Sanaa Ram
Freshman at Jesuit High School
Brief About Me!

I am a freshman at Jesuit High School and an aspiring psychology major. I am interested in understanding how mental health issues disproportionately affect marginalized communities, and how these gaps can be addressed through both technology and communication.
I focus on two main approaches. On the research side, I apply machine learning can detect early signals of suicide risk through personalized longitudinal analysis. On the advocacy side, I build awareness through public speaking, writing, and community innitiatives.
As Team Captain of my debate team, I help my teammates turn their ideas into strong arguments in various events, including Parliamentary and Public Forum. I am also a self published author of Parts of a Whole, a children's books series that educates kids on values such as self-acceptance, gratitude, and sharing. As Miss Teen Washington County, I use my platform to raise awareness of increasing teen mental health problems. I am also a teacher at Digital Doodlers, a coding nonprofit. I help students build confidence in their ability to solve problems independently, while expanding access to coding literacy. Through my leadership in the Teen Library Council, I help create an inclusive space so adolescents can feel supported.
